  • PLAN BEE is a 'one stop shop', we supply everything, there are no hidden extras. And should you change your mind, we can remove and rehouse your bees and beehive anytime.

  • PLAN BEE is a small artisan beekeeping service, we are not part of a franchise, Tony looks after every hive personally.

  • Complete working beehives can be bought, rented, sponsored or gifted with ongoing management, including delivery of your own honey.

  • Prices to buy a fully installed working beehive with a honey bee colony starts at £2000 including the first year of fully inclusive management, honey harvesting and delivery. That's £800 for the hive and bees and £1200 for the maintenance (£100 pcm).

  • Subsequent years management, including the honey harvesting is £1200 a year with discounts available for additional hives on the same site. That's only £100 a month including all travel, equipment, labour and insurance costs.

  • Or you can rent your beehive and honeybees, without any obligation to keep them forever. Prices start at £1200 a year including all management, honey harvesting and delivery without the costs of you buying the beehive.

  • Honeybees are wild animals, with beekeepers nurturing and managing them for honey and pollination. As much as I can, I keep bees and produce honey organically. So I would ask all PLAN BEE clients not to use any pesticides or weed killers on their garden.

  • PLAN BEE is a treatment free beekeeping project. I am as organic as I can. I don’t use any chemicals or plastics. I nurture strong, healthy colonies that can defend themselves against pests and become more resistant to pathogens. This method of course can lead to losses of weaker colonies. So, if for any reason, your beehive fails I will of course replace the colony at the earliest convenience.

  • Management of your beehive and the live honey bee colony is PLAN BEE's full responsibility, we will keep the colony live and healthy and making you honey. But depending on the time of season, for freshly installed hives, it's often best to take honey on the second year to let the colony get fully established.

  • PLAN BEE uses National and Commercial beehives as standard and with arrangement before installation, your beehive can be custom painted and stencilled with your name or brand logo.

  • Educational beehive inspections can easily be arranged, to look inside your beehive and taste the raw honey.

  • As soon as your bees are making enough extra honey for us to harvest, we will deliver you your finished raw honey once or sometimes twice a year, usually early summer and/or early autumn, depending on the nectar flow.

  • PLAN BEE is a member of the British Beekeeping Association and is fully insured for public liability for hive inspections only when supervised by PLAN BEE, our general advice is not to interfere with the hive at all and only observe from a safe distance.

  • Bees aren’t aggressive but they are defensive of their home, common sense will keep you safe but for obvious reasons, PLAN BEE is not responsible for your health and safety but rest assured any problems you can contact PLAN BEE anytime 24/7.

  • Raw honey's colour and flavour will change seasonally, and from year to year. This is entirely down to what forage the bees choose and the time of year the honey is harvested.

  • Raw honey is not suitable for infants under 12 months.

  • Raw honey never goes off, it may set or crystalize, but this is a sign of quality, showing that it hasn't been pasteurised. Crystalized honey can be cleared simply by warming in hot water or in direct sunlight.

Prices and terms & conditions

Things you might not know about Apis Mellifera, the humble honey bee...

  • Honey bees can recognize human faces and are self-aware, they're sentient and have a primitive form of consciousness. They can solve problems and have a primitive form of subjective experiences.

  • One of the most compelling pieces of evidence for honey's durability comes from archaeological discoveries that pots of honey have been found in ancient Egyptian tombs, some of which are over 3,000 years old, and the honey is still perfectly edible. This incredible preservation is a testament to honey's unique chemical composition and natural preservative properties.

  • Honey bee propolis, the resin-like material made by bees, is one of natures most powerful antibiotics.

  • Raw honey is one of the few substances that can sustain human life and it can't be synthesised.

  • Raw unpasteurized honey contains live enzymes, pollen and propolis, it hasn't been fine filtered and isn't heat treated so all the natural properties remain in the honey. It has a number of medical properties, including antibacterial and antimicrobial properties that can help fight infections caused by bacteria, viruses, and fungi and used topically to promote wound healing, especially for burns.

  • Honey promotes gastrointestinal health and as an antioxidant helps prevent degenerative diseases, it also works as an antidepressant, anticonvulsant and has anti-anxiety benefits.

  • Honey bees can travel up to five miles at 20mph to forage over a 1000 flowers a day.

  • Are we saving the wrong bees? We're not. The wild and hived honey bee is constantly under attack from many man made and natural pests and they do need our help. Honey bees are not carnivores and only feed on nectar and pollen, they do not harm other pollinators, they live side by side in perfect harmony and all their numbers are in decline. But if we save the honey bees environment we save all the other wild pollinators for free.

  • What's the most delicious honey in the world? Your own, every time 🍯
