Thanks for buying our organic eggs and raw honey, Campions is a passive small-holding where nothing is killed!

Our hens are free-range rescue hens and live happily in our garden with their Pekin bantam rooster 'Pedro', they're pets really but we take their eggs for the kitchen and the honesty box. They live in harmony with the bees, keeping the hives free of pests. Their feed is organic garden mix with Omega-3 oil, veg from the garden and rain water.

Our honey is raw, it hasn't been pasteurized or fine filtered so contains pollen, propolis, live enzymes and beeswax, all the good stuff, although it isn't suitable for infants under twelve months.​ Real honey is an anti-inflammatory, an antioxidant and an antibacterial agent. It is used in Cancer treatments, is good for cardiovascular disease and can reduce cholesterol levels.

 

Honey is part of human evolution. In the Quran, honey is described as "the best source of healing" and "everything that the bee produces is medicine". Real honey cannot be synthesized and real honey never goes off, it may set (crystalize) but can be cleared by warming in hot water years after it was bottled. Honey crystallization is a sign of quality and shows that the honey has not been heat treated.

Our honey is harvested and bottled at Campions in Great Leighs, North Essex, although the bees can travel five miles a day, so although I control what organic forage is in the garden, the bees can take what ever wild seasonal forage they like. This means that the honey is very seasonal and its taste, colour and consistency changes from month to month and year to year.
